Bra Bandits & Lawnmower Lunatics

Tuesday July 29, 2008

According to community newspaper and website BrookfieldNOW, a woman recently managed to pilfer $5000 worth of bras from the Victoria's Secret in Brookfield Square. A long-term job, you ask? No. The really odd thing about this story is that the woman managed to stuff approximately 115 bras in a shopping bag before leaving the store, yet apparently, this either failed to alert store employees, or security staff was particularly slow that day, because the bra bandit is still on the loose.

In other local oddball news, a Milwaukee man was recently arrested for shooting his own lawnmower because it wouldn't start -- a story that surprisingly made it all the way to the BBC, probably due to the man's comment that, "It's my lawn mower and my yard, so I can shoot it if I want." Righteous: yes. Accurate? No, especially not when the weapon of choice was a sawn-off shotgun.
