A lot of people may not really understand that beads can equal big business -- that is, until they experience the Bead & Button Show, an eight-day extravaganza of jewelry-making classes and shopping opportunities. Held annually at the Midwest Airlines Center in Milwaukee, the Bead & Button show in 2007 welcomed more than 14,000 visitors from all 50 states and 26 countries.

This year's Bead & Button Show will run from June 1 - June 8, but if you're merely looking for a shopping experience, the first five days are not for you -- these days feature classes and workshops only. Those who love beads but don't have the aptitude to make them are welcome to attend the marketplace on June 6 - 8.

Highlights of the 2008 Bead & Button Show include:

  • an international marketplace on June 6-8, which will fill the entire third floor of the center with more the 370 vendors from around the world. Marketplace offers pearls, gems, art glass, seed beads, ethnic beads, vintage jewelry, and much more.
  • more than 530 classes available at all skill levels. Register in advance or at the Show.
