Voting in Milwaukee, or anywhere, is a pretty simple process: simply cast your ballot and that's it, right? Wrong. There are a lot of little things that can go wrong on election day that might make you ineligible to vote. Be sure to cover all your bases so you can be sure your voice is heard!

Find Out Where You Vote

  • Be sure to find out where your polling station is. The divisions of who votes where are not always readily apparent in out city -- just because your neighbor across the street votes at one place, doesn't mean that you vote there as well. Find out for youself! Where Do I Vote?

  • If you're new to town, have moved or changed your name, or are a first-time voter, you must register to vote. Registering is easy, and usually only takes a few minutes. How Do I Register?

Vote by Absentee Ballot

  • If you know you won't be able to make the polling station on election day, fill out an absentee ballot. It's a quick and easy way to cast your vote. Voting by Absentee Ballot.

Vote smart

Voting doesn't have to be a chore. If you plan ahead, it can be painless.
  • Confirm your voting site before you go.
  • Avoid voting during peak periods. If you can, avoid going between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m., and between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
  • Be prepared to provide a proof of residence identification if you are registering to vote on Election Day, or recently registered to vote by mail.
