Every year, on New Year's Day, a crowd of insane people descend on Milwaukee's Bradford Beach at noon to jump into the frigid waters of Lake Michigan. Why? There are a multitude of reasons: to cleanse the spirit for the new year, to shock away last night's hangover, or to wear a bikini and pretend it's 70 degrees warmer than it really is. This, my friends, is the Polar Bear Plunge.
