American Science & Surplus is one of those rare attractions that invariably elicits an "I love that place!" from at least nine out of 10 people you mention it to. It's hard not to love a store that sells everything you never knew you needed, from fossilized dinosaur poop, to "robot partz," to a Finnish military-issue gas mask. It also does not hurt that the store is decorated floor to ceiling with wacky marker-written signs, wonderful junk sculptures, or even the odd terra cotta warrior. Check it out the next time you need some cheap props for nearly anything, want to create an awesome Halloween costume, or just have an hour to kill on a random afternoon.
